Bernard Vandoren crafted the first BD5 by hand in the 1970s and forty years later, armed with cutting edge technology, Vandoren is able to precisely re-create that same exceptional mouthpiece each and every time. The Black Diamond family continues to expand and provides the clarinetist with a dark, rich, yet compact sound.

All of the properties that have made the BD5 so well-liked are only enhanced by the acoustic qualities of the HD Ebonite, which is a noticeably more dense material that results in a very stable core sound with wonderful projection and fantastic response.
